I am marrying the man I fell in love with almost 25 years ago on April 1 at the county courthouse. We met when we were teens, dated for a summer and drifted apart. We have crossed paths several times but didn't reconnect until last summer. He left his entire life in California to be with me and my boys as a family. We have been living together but decided to get married.

I understand the pragmatic issues that led to your decision. We too could be happy living together without the ceremony but my man is a writer with no "income" and no insurance and we just felt that....well, why not? We are mature, middle aged kids and don't feel this is impulsive. But we are also doing it for romantic reasons.

We chose a courthouse ceremony for the anonymity (don't want my extended family to know), ease, and cost. We have decided to go with non-traditional clothes in black and tan with a wedding dinner at a sophisticated restaurant in the city and a hotel room with a jacuzzi tub!

Congrats and remember you aren't alone!

I may have to check out this book...
came across this and thought of your unicorn party awhile back. The post is from 2 January.

Blessings on the New Year. The current Bon Apetit has a tofu curry recipe that uses coconut milk-that is vegan friendly, right? Thought I'd try it.

My long silence probably answered that question, but the answer is no. Sorry Meredith, but even if I had the time, I don't have that kind of skill. :)

ha ha i agree with the last bit. :)
As a Stephen King junkie and someone who is honestly a bit scared of all non-fiction not about the Celts, most of this is way over my head, but i like the last part.
Glad you're back. You're awesome, keep being you!

Thank you for this. It's so good to hear your "voice." At seven months, I'm still wobbly trying how to figure out how to balance it all. Yes, two months is just a short time. You're still in the infancy motherhood. Today was a hard day, and it brings me great comfort to know that you're muddling through it too. I have been thinking so much about the isolation and how it often seems next to impossible to get out of the house around feeding and napping and such. And also feeling sheer amazement at my daughter and the miraculousness of it all. Oh, I am so in love.

I have a gift for you coming. I only need to get it all wrapped up AND make it to the post office. I've been trying to do it for a week. Sigh. It will be on its way before Thanksgiving, for sure.

Oh, and that picture of Sagan is just about the cutest thing ever.

congrats on having a baby! And that onsie is adorable. I don't think having a baby infiltrates everything. I try to put minimal details on my blog (due to some friends who've had rough patches) and it hasn't been TOO hard, you know? I say gush all you want at your new URL (although, I like reading baby stuff, so if you put it here, I wouldn't be bugged by it).
